Dr Jennifer Laidlaw
Jennifer Laidlaw completed her MD at the University of British Columbia (UBC) prior to completing her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. During her residency she was actively involved in medical education. She’s presented at international conferences and written on the subject of screening for delirium as well as professionalism and social media. She began her career at Surrey Memorial Hospital as the Head Consultation Liaison (CL), the Psychiatry Department. Her primary focus was building a thriving highly collaborative CL service that provided the psychiatric treatment needed by patients in the medical and surgical units, including the Palliative Care and oncology Units. She was also awarded a Facilities Engagement grant to create guidelines on how to manage vulnerable patients at the hospital.
She is also the provincial practice leader for Psychiatry in BC Cancer, Clinical Associate professor at UBC and the past president of the BC Psychiatric Association. She is an assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and adjunct faculty in the UM PM&R & Family Medicine residency programs. She has an ongoing interest in musculoskeletal research and educational. She is a teacher of Neuromuscular Medicine and Musculoskeletal Medicine to the Family Medicine Residents. She is also involved in ongoing research projects on electrodiagnostic medical musculoskeletal and performing arts-medicine.
Dr. Pulkit Singh completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales before completing her Psychiatry residency at the University of British Columbia. While in training she was awarded the Psychotherapy Award and an Undergraduate Teaching Award to acknowledge her achievements in these areas. She has worked in many areas of Psychiatry and is particularly interested in the field of Psycho-oncology, Addiction Psychiatry, Cardiac Psychiatry and General Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Nadeesha Fernando is a psychiatrist who works with adults of all ages in BC Cancer. She has a deep interest in Psycho-oncology, and especially enjoys working with older patients. She has been interested for a long time in geriatric psychiatry, and has been a consultant at the Geriatric Psychiatry Consult Liaison Service (GPCLS) and ECT Service at Vancouver General Hospital. She is a teacher and mentor for medical residents and students.
Dr Theresa Lo
Dr Theresa Lo is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, where she completed her medical school and residency in psychiatry. She has worked at the BC Cancer Agency, Surrey Mental Health and UBC Sleep Disorders Centre. She also has a psychotherapy practice that she has been practicing for a while which includes dialectical behavioural therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She is proficient in Cantonese.
Dr Karim was educated at Guy’s King’s St Thomas’ and St George’s hospitals in London and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She is a member of the Specialist Register for the General Medical Council, and has been in psychiatry practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Richford started her career as a nurse, and later went on to study medicine, receiving her MD from Dalhousie. She has worked in numerous Psychiatry areas which include Addiction Psychiatry and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Psycho-oncology and many more. She is a psychiatrist on staff for Providence Health Care, Vancouver General Hospital, and BC Cancer-Vancouver and a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC. She is also a past-president of the British Columbia Psychiatric Association.
